Mushfiq ready to spoil Irish party

Ireland wicketkeeper Niall O’Brien said his team is in Bangladesh to spoil the ICC Cricket World Cup party by defeating the Tigers on Friday at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, but his Bangladesh counterpart Mushfiqur Rahim believes no such will happen.

“They are a good team and we know that if they play up to their potential then they can beat any team in the world. But we will try to ruin their parade rather than letting them spoil ours,” said Mushfiq.

Bangladesh now needs to seal at least four out of five remaining group matches to make it to the next level in the tournament playing against top flight teams like England, West Indies and South Africa and two associates team, Ireland and Netherlands. Though most of the associates failed to impress in their respective matches it was Netherlands that caught attention with their impressive performance against England.

“In a big tournament like World Cup, all the teams aim to perform well, doesn’t matter even if it is even an associate country. The associates had to prove themselves and then get into this tournament. So I think they will always be trying to perform like Netherlands did against England but we are not worried rather we are focused,” commented Mushfiq.
